How did I spend my birthday wk?
This is gonna be loooong! But I tried to make it fun with peek-tures! :)
21st of October, Tuesday
Met up with Serene and Wanyee for dinner and Kim Gary, Vivo before cabbing down to Wine Connection for a girlfriend bitching session. ^^
Cheers to everlasting friendship.
The silly waiter changed us in 5-cent coins. 0_o"
We are cute geeks! Heee...
22nd October, Wednesday
Had steamboat buffet at the old Bugis Icon with Cher while waiting for Mengzi and Ting to come..
Yummy spread!! And the restaurant is U-shaped and this is along one wall only.. Very very worth my $17!
Freshly sliced pork/chicken/mutton/beef..
Even the sauces hv variety!!!
23rd October, Friday
Last day of BuyBack.. It has been a fun 2 wks with lots of pkt lunches and running frm classes to the pushcart. And not to mention the $$$ which sustained me throughout the birthday celebrations. :) :) :)
I love moo-lah! :)
Somehow between peak hrs, we found the time to play.
To celebrate the end of work, Cheeleng, Eric and I headed to Funan IT Mall for Sakae Sushi dinner buffet.. They hv changed the menu wor. *yum*
Leaning tower of plates overshadow Eric. :P
We were accused of squishing our rice by the bad service staff. But we DID NOT! We merely took out the rice to consume seperately! Was quite pissed with the manager, Allan, who handled the situation poorly despite not being able to find evidence of "squished rice". Bahx!
Here onwards are birthday events planned by my favourite ppl ever! :D
This yr, my birthday is filled with FIRSTS! Its awesome and not to mention memorable as I got to experience so much. Woots~!
25th October, Saturday
Virgin visit to Wild Wild Wet! Despite staying in the east my whole life, its super malu-ating to admit I hv nv stepped foot into Singapore's only water theme park. :'(
Shiok River! There were actually many more stupid photos but my dear brother accidently formatted the phone memory card so all I hv left are photos taken before the camera ran low on batt. Zzzz...
I am wearing the adult lifejacket. The one I am holding is for kids below 13kg and it comes with extra neck foam. The funny thing is the handle on top which I saw an angmo mother carrying her two kids like they were in shopping bags with their legs hanging quite some dist above the ground!
In another suaku moment, I tasted Cheese Fondue for the very first-time in my life. Choc fondues are so commonplace now. Give me cheese frm New York New York anyday man! Oh, and I heart thin-crust pizza! *smiles*
26th October, Sunday
Went shopping at Orchard with the besties!!!
Shopping is exhausting so we took a break for Hong Kong desserts at a very nice Far East Plaza cafe with fab durian kueh!
Quite silly to fill our tummies as we were intending to go for high-tea later.. :P
When Ting arrived, we headed down to Royal Plaza on Scotts. Nice tinted glass skylight!
Carousel, for serious food lovers. ^^
Having high-tea at a 5-star hotel is definitely not a first for me.. But having it with girlfriends and picking up my own tab really brings my tai-tai training to the nxt lvl. Wahahaha!
Cher: Wahh, the bowl so clean, lets mess it up abit. :P
Plucked beansprouts! Both head and tail wor... Effort!
The grill.
Desserts.........................
Chocolate fountain!!
Looks so darn tempting right?? Sian pok! Like tt how to lose weight sia. :(
Cher: You cannot order this pastry coz its bostock (no stock in hokkien).
The VIP room.. Stylo-mylo leather high-back chairs!
All glasses are individually mouth-blown so no two pieces wld be coloured exactly the same. Both these glasses contain the same H2O hor!
They provided tissue too pretty to use so Ting took out her own. :P
Cam-whore! ^^
[frm left: Me, Ting, Cher, Yilynn]
So big still play hide and seek! Haha..
Yilynn: Must walk like tai-tai coming down!
Me: Like tt ah?
Cher: No No! Is like tt!!!
Yilynn: No lah! Is like tt!!
Cher being v demure and lady-like playing on the pretty white grand piano...
Eek! "Talent" or lack thereof, exposed! Heee...
Cher, Me and Ting. :)
My babes!
My strawberry hamper courtesy of Cher and Yilynn. THANK YOU!!!
First birthday cake of the yr came frm Secret Recipe! Its actually cheesecake with milo powder topping. *sinful* But I must be touched for it isn't a habit to celebrate birthdays at my uncle's house so I didn't even expect them to rmbr much less get me a cake.
MY FAMILY ROCKS~
Soft cakes are really hard to cut!
Dinner was pasta with mini prawns cooked by my aunt. *cute*
At midnight, I blew the candles off the cutest cake ever! *happy*
27th October, Monday
Finally, the actual coming of age!
Spent the day with my family and we went down to East Coast Park for lunch at Tung Lok Signatures.
Mama ordered $90 crabs bcoz I had a craving!!! If you notice in the bottom left photo, they actually open the crab for easy eating. And they open it in front of you! Talk abt gd service. :)
Hairy crabs were in season...
Of course no meal is complete without the D-food. :P
Aft hrs spent browsing through cake broucheres for BD, I found the perfect birthday cake!
It is my last bid attempt to salvage what is left of my youth - 9 barbie cupcakes frm Prima Deli. :P
Pls fairy godmama,
I hv been a gd girl haven't I?
So do make my wishes come true.
Love, Joy.
The siblings and me.
Speaking of siblings, my noobie brother is really quite dumb.
Me: Brian, I asked the president to declare 27th Oct a public hol.
Brian: Ya right! Like your birthday so impt like tt.
Me [pointing to the calendar]: See, its a yellow box.
Brian [aft increduously examining the yellow box]: MAMA!!
[he runs screaming frm my room]
Brian [really distraught]: How come her birthday more special then mine???
It took the sensible Alisa a couple of mins to convince him tt it was really Deepavali and not my birthday tt justified the public holiday. *rolls on the floor laughing*
:D
Mama and me. :)
Close-up shot.. Pretty ain't it?
And I got to keep the toys! Its sorta like eating Mac and getting the Happy Meal toy to take hm. :P
28th October, Tuesday
GV treated me to Eagle Eye. I think the plot was sooo clever and I enjoyed in throughly! :)
Esplanade was having some coloured hula-hoop exhibition. Sometimes, ART truely baffles me.
Outside, it was Deepavali galore!
Mirrored ornaments...
29th October, Wednesday
SPSE peeps treated me to a Mongolian buffet, tent. What is it with us and Mongolian food recently? I mean Gerald's birthday was also Mongolian buffet only i suppose this one is higher class. It being right smack in the middle of Clarke Quay's night scene, facing the central fountains somemore...
The ordering style was to choose the veggies, meat and carbo (rice or noodle) before mixing ur sauces and handing it to the chef to fry tgt in char kuey tiao style. SPICY! :)
Sengwang delights at food. :P
After a fine dinner, we headed to Dbl O forfree drinks ladies night party!
[frm left: Cheeleng, Jessica, me, Darren, Sengwang, Thiam Hee]
Cheeleng filled up her coaster with her english name and accidently left it just lying on our table. When Sengwang saw it, he thought an "Eileen" tried to hit on Thiam Hee. In the noise I tried to clarify by pointing to Cheeleng but who is to know, the blur Sengwang then went on to think Cheeleng cld attract lesbians. *faints*
Dance baby, dance!
I love my girls. :)
On the dance floor, Darren gets high.
Give me an "O" ppl!!!
Isn't it abit early for xmas? Haha.. Anyway, this is a lovingly prepared stocking frm Leng Leng, Tiffy and beansprout didi (aka Darren). :D
Goes wild with the kitty cat!
And candy! Dark chocolate is supposed to hv slimming properties!!!
In chinese sense, I am 21 and is an adult. So for yet another first time, I got the traditional mee sua with hard-boiled egg to commemorate the occassion. Arghhh, old le lah!
Joy Joy is 20 and she loves all who remembered. *hugs*
For ppl who sent greetings via sms, my phone drowned (see the red battery???) I am really sorry if I replied with "who are you?" cause I lost my contacts at the same time my phone decided to go swimming. Sighs.
:(
All in all, thank you for everything guys.. I am honestly, cross my heart, grateful. *muackies*
